Amelie’s Rustic Wedding in Stella York

How did your partner propose?

My partner Luke proposed when we were on holiday in Cornwall which is my favourite place. We were sitting on a bench at the edge of a cliff with my favourite view and it was sunset. After several minutes of him acting very suspiciously he finally got down on one knee and proposed!

What’s the best piece of advice you received in the run up to your wedding?

Learn your wedding vows or at least get familiar with them, so that you fully understand what you are saying to each other rather than just repeating them on the day without really thinking about their meaning.

How did you go about finding your wedding dress?

I went straight to Fross as I had walked past the shop many times in the past and always loved the dresses I saw through the window

How many dresses did you try on before you found ‘the one’?

It was actually the first dress I tried on! However just to be sure I tried on several others which were varying styles.

Do you know the name of your dress designer?

Stella York

What made you fall in love with the dress that you chose?

It was exactly the dress I had in mind. I always wanted to go for the princess vibe with a big skirt and train and I love a bit of sparkle.

Did you wear a veil and/or any other bridal accessories?

I wore a veil that has lovely sparkles on it.

Tell us a little about your wedding day – the vibe, what inspired you, etc.

It was a very laid back wedding day, totally stress free. The ceremony took place at our local church and the reception was in a marquee in my parents garden. It very much had a rustic countryside vibe, and as both myself and Luke are Harry Potter fans there were a few additional decorations and accessories to reflect this!

What was your favourite moment from the day itself?

The last dance of the night. It was totally unexpected but it ended up being a lovely slow dance to Thank You for the Music by ABBA and everyone was in a circle around us singing their hearts out. Up to that point I had spent the whole day grinning but that part was emotional for everyone

Is there any advice you would be happy to share with other brides?

Relax and enjoy the planning experience. It doesn’t need to be horrifically stressful. On the day itself just let everything run it’s course even if it’s not quite how you were expecting it.

Are you taking a honeymoon and if so when (in relation to your wedding, ie, immediately after, or sometime later) and what are your plans?

We went on our honeymoon 2 weeks after the wedding. We are currently relaxing in Greece for a couple of weeks which is perfect!
