Connie’s Perfect Wedding Day

How did your partner propose?

My partner proposed to me during a dinner cruise on the River Seine in Paris. We were on the deck of the boat with the Eiffel Tower lit up in the background.

What’s the best piece of advice you received in the run up to your wedding?

Stop trying to please everybody. The day is about you and your partner and no one else. Enjoy every minute of it and don’t let people’s opinions put a dampener on your special day. You can’t keep everyone happy!

How did you go about finding your wedding dress?

Over the course of 9 months, I visited 9 different bridal boutiques and was on the internet/social media non-stop looking for my perfect dress. I just couldn’t find ‘the one’. I put so much pressure on myself to find the perfect dress and actually found the whole process extremely stressful. After what felt like a lifetime of looking, I found the one at Fross! I had moments of panic and sleepless nights where I thought I’d made the wrong choice but after seeing the seamstress for alterations, I was finally in love!

How many dresses did you try on before you found ‘the one’?

A lot! I would estimate somewhere between 60-80 dresses.

Do you know the name of your dress designer?

Modeca

What made you fall in love with the dress that you chose?

It was different from other dresses I had tried on, more unique. I originally wanted a square neckline; however, this sweetheart neckline with the straps gave off the same vibe as square but was much softer and more flattering for me. I loved all the detail on the bodice, and the skirt had an all-over subtle shimmer which was beautiful, especially when it caught the light. The low back was a must for me too. I also found out that this dress was only stocked at one shop in the whole of the UK, and that was Fross! So the likelihood of someone else having my dress was extremely low!

Did you wear a veil and/or any other bridal accessories?

I wore a Swarovski crystal cathedral veil that I purchased at Fross. My veil was absolutely stunning, and I am so sad I’ll never be able to wear it again! However, I’ve already handed it over to my sister as her ‘something borrowed’ for her wedding day, which is next year.

Tell us a little about your wedding day – the vibe, what inspired you, etc.

Our wedding day was modern and classic. We had entertainment throughout the entire day; a violinist for the ceremony and reception, a singer for the wedding breakfast, and a band and DJ for the evening reception. The ceremony was beautiful; it took place in a naturally well-lit stunning room with all of our friends and family there to witness us tying the knot! The guests were all so happy for us and were certainly enjoying themselves (maybe a little too much as they got through over 100 shots before 4 pm). The dance floor was packed all night, and we couldn’t have asked for a better day. We even had a double rainbow show up for us!

What was your favorite moment from the day itself?

One of my favorite moments was seeing my future husband waiting at the end of the aisle for me with my Dad on my arm and all of my loved ones surrounding me.

Is there any advice you would be happy to share with other brides?

All the stress will be worth it. Lean on friends and family (and your partner) when things are getting too much and come back to wedding planning another day. Everything will work itself out in the end, and you will have the most amazing day.

Are you taking a honeymoon, and if so, when (in relation to your wedding, i.e., immediately after, or sometime later) and what are your plans?

We went on a ‘mini-moon’ to the Amalfi Coast just over a day after our wedding. We traveled to Naples, Sorrento, Capri, and Positano and spent 6 days exploring. We will be going on our bigger honeymoon to Mexico 4 months after our wedding, where we will be sunbathing, swimming, and sipping on margaritas in the sunshine for 10 days.
