Jessie’s ‘Sun, Sea and Sangria’ Wedding

Sep 19, 2019

We got in touch with bride Jessie to chat about her sun-soaked Ibiza wedding in a Justin Alexander bridal gown.

How did your partner propose?

He woke me up in the morning and told me to pack an overnight bag. We then went to London and he proposed in St James’ park as we walked to the hotel he had booked. We then went for lunch at Clos Maggiore which has been described as the world’s most romantic restaurant, and he had booked us a table knowing it was somewhere I would love to visit. We then went to Hemming in Piccadilly arcade, a jewellers where I chose my ring. We spent the evening in Leicester square and then visited museums the next day before collecting my ring.

What’s the best piece of advice you received in the run up to the big day?

To get a videographer. We weren’t going to bother but my husband’s sister told us it would be the best thing we did, and the day went by in such a flash that we’re really looking forward to being able to watch it back and keep it for the future.

How did you go about finding the perfect wedding dress?

I had a Pinterest board and googled stores which held the designers I liked.

How many dresses did you try on before finding The One?

Only about 6 – Fross was the second shop I visited and I chose the first dress that I tried on in Fross, although I did try a few others on at the appointment too.

What made you fall in love with the dress you chose?

I fell in love with the sparkle of the top half, yet the simplicity of the silhouette and skirt. I knew I would be hot getting married in Ibiza, and I thought the dress went well with the beach side venue. I loved that the dress was elegant, yet unique.

What bridal accessories did you choose?

I bought a veil and belt at Fross. The belt was then sewn into the dress. I had sparkly Jimmy Choo shoes (borrowed from my mum) and silk flowers for my hair that fitted my colour scheme.

Tell us about your wedding day.

What was your favourite moment from your big day?

I was feeling quite nervous before hand, and knew that I had to walk down a curved flight of stairs from the roof to the aisle, while all the guests watched, but when I heard the guitarist playing the song we had chosen, and with my grandad on my arm, my worries washed away and I could appreciate my beautiful surroundings.

What theme did you pick for the wedding?

We had shades of peach and coral, and I hand water coloured all the wedding stationary in these colours. We had pink, peach and coral flowers in pineapples as our centre pieces, and the bridesmaids each wore a slightly different shade.

What advice would you give to other brides-to-be?

Try to take a few minutes to take everything in throughout the day, and appreciate time with your partner, otherwise it can all pass you by!

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

As we got married in Ibiza, we spent the week there.

Who were your suppliers for your big day?
