Mica Bartholemew’s Barbados Beach Wedding
How did your partner propose?
Tom proposed on a rainy evening in January on Brighton beach. It was a bit of a disaster but I still said yes!
What’s the best piece of advice you received in the run up to your wedding?
The best advice I got was actually from Fross the day before I left to go to Barbados to get married, she told me to relax and remember that the day was about me and Tom and not to stress about anyone else, can’t tell you how many times I relived that conversation during the stressful few day’s before the wedding.
How many dresses did you try on before you found ‘the one’?
I tried about 10 dresses on, I ended up in tears in some of them. I thought if this is how I’m going to look then I don’t want to get married, I went to Fross after many recommendations and it was completely different, there was no hard sell no pressure the dress I got I picked up and thought that’s a bit different I’ll try that I fell in love with it by myself in the dressing room, as soon as Amelia pulled that curtain back my mum and sisters faces confirmed exactly what I thought. This is the one!
Do you know the name of your dress designer?
Stella York
What made you fall in love with the dress that you chose?
I liked that it was so different to my original thought of what I’d wear it was very elegant with a touch of princess!
Did you wear a veil and/or any other bridal accessories?
I wore my sisters veil as something borrowed and I had a glitzy hair accessory that Amelia helped me pick at Fross.
Tell us a little about your wedding day – the vibe, what inspired you, etc.
The day was perfect 32 degree heat on a white sand clear sea beach in Barbados, we had steel drums, cocktails and canapés on tap a really laid back atmosphere which is exactly what I wanted. we literally danced the day away.
What was your favourite moment from the day itself?
My favourite moment was my mum and my son walking me down the aisle, to my favourite song with everyone watching the hotel guests were even crying I felt really special.
Is there any advice you would be happy to share with other brides?
My advice would literally be don’t stress about the small stuff! As Fross told me, the day Is about you and your husband and enjoy every moment.
Are you taking a honeymoon and if so when (in relation to your wedding, ie, immediately after, or sometime later) and what are your plans?
We have no honeymoon plans as of yet. Barbados was unreal I don’t think anywhere will beat it!
Would you mind sharing details of any other suppliers you used? Ideally by their Instagram handle but if not, just a business name will do!
