How did your partner propose?

Alex proposed at home in our living room. He had planned to propose on our holiday to Mexico two weeks later but couldn’t wait. He told me he had brought me a present and did I want it early and told me I had to close my eyes. When he told me to open them he was on one knee

What’s the best piece of advice you received in the run up to your wedding?

To take some time on the day just you two – allows breathing time from the guests and to talk about the day.

How did you go about finding your wedding dress?

I went to a couple of different bridal stores. I put a deposit on one of the first dresses I tried on but kept looking at the photo of me in the dress and felt it wasn’t my dress so cancelled the dress and kept looking until one gave me the reaction I always imagined I would get when I found the one.

How many dresses did you try on before you found ‘the one’?

Between 20 and 30

Stella York

What made you fall in love with the dress that you chose?

I just felt special in the dress. It gave me the reaction I always thought I would get. I loved how it sparkled and felt very princessy!

Did you wear a veil and/or any other bridal accessories?

I wore a cathedral veil that had lace that match my dress, a pearl and sparkle headband and a belt. I also added tull sleeves to my dress.

Tell us a little about your wedding day – the vibe, what inspired you, etc.

We had our ceremony at the meeting house at Sussex uni. It was the venue my parents in law had got married in so my husband always wanted to get married there too. We then had the reception at the Ravenswood. Our colour scheme was blush/rose gold, navy and grey. I looked on pintrest for inspiration.

What was your favourite moment from the day itself?

Seeing my husbands face as I walked down the aisle and our first dance.

Is there any advice you would be happy to share with other brides?

Wear comfy heels even if there not as pretty as you would like!

Are you taking a honeymoon and if so when (in relation to your wedding, ie, immediately after, or sometime later) and what are your plans?

We are planning to go to Mexico. We haven’t booked it yet due to covid.
