Sophie’s Dusty Blue Wedding in Stella York

How did your partner propose?

On my birthday, during the morning, Mike went into the woods by our house. We normally walk our dog in the here, so it means a lot to us. He had gone to set up a treasure hunt; with little clues and rhymes which lead to the lake. We headed out on a dog walk and followed all the clues, whilst I read the last clue Mike got down on one knee.

What’s the best piece of advice you received in the run up to your wedding?

Do what you and your partner want, even if people suggest otherwise as it’s your big day. Go with the flow and don’t stress!

How did you go about finding your wedding dress?

I only went to two wedding boutiques. Fross was actually recommended by a friend and my now sister in law

How many dresses did you try on before you found ‘the one’?

I probably tried on 7. I was slightly worried that I hadn’t tried on enough, however when it’s the right dress you just get the feeling.

What made you fall in love with the dress that you chose?

I wasn’t initially going to go for the type of dress I did. In my head, I wanted an A-line dress, not too sparkly and with thick straps. However, the Stella York, Paris dress stole my heart. It showed off my figure, it shimmered and sparkled in the light. The train on the dress was absolutely stunning. I tried on a few more dresses after this one, however we kept going back to ‘dress 4’ and comparing all the others to it.

Did you wear a veil and/or any other bridal accessories?

I had a two-tier long veil for the ceremony, and a sparkly hair clip for the whole day. I didn’t want too much as I wanted to show off the dress during the day.

Tell us a little about your wedding day – the vibe, what inspired you, etc.

It was the most perfect, magical and amazing day ever! People say it’s the best day of your life, I was sceptical, however I now believe them.

What was your favourite moment from the day itself?

Everything! I don’t have a specific favourite moment, however myself and Mike took half an hour away. We went up to our room, just to chill and look back at the day so far. Our room had a balcony which overlooked the grounds of South Lodge. We were able to just observe our guests having fun, playing garden games, chatting and just enjoying themselves

What theme did you pick for your wedding?

We had a dinosaur themed wedding, with a dusty blue colour scheme.

Is there any advice you would be happy to share with other brides?

Enjoy the day, go with the flow and don’t stress the small stuff. Take time out, during the day, with your husband. If you are thinking about doing a speech, do it. I did one and am so glad.

Are you taking a honeymoon and if so when (in relation to your wedding, ie, immediately after, or sometime later) and what are your plans?

We spent a week in Tokyo and a week in Dubai.

Would you mind sharing details of any other suppliers you used?
