Sophie’s Magical Wedding in Stella York

How did your partner propose?

Christmas Day morning 2018. We had just finished opening all our presents from under the tree in our new home (it was our first Christmas in our new home together), Adam then sat me down on the sofa, and told me to close my eyes. When I opened my eyes, there he was down on one knee with the ring, and asked me to marry him, I immediatey said yes. That was the start of one incredible Christmas, and a dream come true!

What’s the best piece of advice you received in the run up to your wedding?

Get things organised early on, go to a couple of wedding fairs. We secured all our suppliers within the first 2 months of being engaged, as we had set a date by the first week of January 19. Once that is out of the way you can relax and enjoy the build up to it. I was a very calm bride

How did you go about finding your wedding dress?

Firstly I looked online to get some ideas. We also went to East Sussex National Wedding Fair evening back in the January, that is where we met a lot of our suppliers, including some of the girls from Fross. I had a great chat with Girls, and as a big boobed bride, I was so concerned that dresses wouldn’t fit me, they gave me a confience boost, and I went ahead a made an appointment. I loved the fact that they were so local to our chosen venue (ESN).

How many dresses did you try on before you found ‘the one’?

I had the honour of having Fross herself for my appointment, she picked out this dress which was beautiul, and picked out a couple of others, as i wanted to try the various styles. In total I tried on 4 dresses, but the first one Fross picked herself was the one to beat. As soon as she put a tiara and veil on me, and I looked at both Mum’s (Adam’s and mine) then I took one look in the mirror, I became emotional with tears, and I knew it was THE ONE.

Do you know the name of your dress designer?

Stella York

What made you fall in love with the dress that you chose?

It made me look so in proportion (with my boobs), and I absolutely loved swooshing it.

Did you wear a veil and/or any other bridal accessories?

A sparkly Veil, Tiara and Shoes, all from Fross.

Tell us a little about your wedding day – the vibe, what inspired you, etc.

Our wedding day was so magical, and more than we both imagined. The day ran perfectly, and virtually on time. Such a beautiful atmosphere as well.

What was your favourite moment from the day itself?

This is a very special moment for me and my mum, during the church service there was a butterfly flying around and kept on flying over me and Adam. For my side of the family, this was a sign that my late sister was by my side on such a special day. I have a Butterfly tattoo on my left wrist, which I had done for when it would have been her 30th Birthday a few years back, she passed away when I was 5 months old, she was only 3.

Is there any advice you would be happy to share with other brides?

I planned our entire day, apart from Cars and Suits! Download on your phone ‘Bridebook’ – the app is fantastic, you can search suppliers and venues through it, and shortlist your favourites. The Check list and count down is super helpful, and you can even upload your guest list on to it, to keep track of those vital numbers. Make sure on the day you have everyone you and your future husband want there, (other people will try to convince you to invite people you barely know), it doesn’t have to be all of your families, especially if you don’t seem them that often, if not at all. Oh and finally be prepared for your home to be caked in wedding gear

Are you taking a honeymoon and if so when (in relation to your wedding, ie, immediately after, or sometime later) and what are your plans?

We got married on the Friday, we then made use of the spa facilities at the hotel on the Saturday, we then went on our Mini Moon on the Sunday. We drove up to Scotland for the week, based ourselves in Edinburgh (our happy place), then we drove all around the highlands on the NC500 route, (Scottish version of Rute 66) and WOW! We are planning to have our honeymoon next year. We want to go to the states for 3 weeks, start off in New York (neither of us have been), then head down to Chicago, and drive the entre Route 66, and stopping off in a few places on route.
