Abigails’s Perfect Wedding

How did your partner propose?

He and my sister planned my proposal for the end of my sisters evening wedding reception, with a slideshow of photos on a projector screen, John Legend playing in the background surrounded by my family and friends, was perfect!

What’s the best piece of advice you received in the run up to your wedding?

You can never be too organised, whether it comes to doing any DIY little touches yourself or    booking your suppliers. Give yourself time!

How did you go about finding your wedding dresses?

I was very open minded with shape ie A-line, fit and flare, so I started to just look on local bridal boutiques websites to find designers they stocked. Then I would go onto the designers’ websites and see their full range, this told me whether I liked the designers and then if I should book in at my local boutiques.

How many dresses did you try on before you found ‘the one’?

I only visited Fross, as I liked the designers they stocked but I tried on about 20 dresses.

Do you know the name of your dress designers?

Yes, they are Sincerity by Justin Alexander.

What made you fall in love with the dresses that you chose?

They were both the first dresses I ever screenshot as 1 is A-Line and 1 is fit and flare. I love how they are both the same designer so they share similarities and flow into each other nicely. They are so timeless, sexy and understated. I wanted dresses to look back on in 10 years’ time and still look current and not outdated. They were very me for different reasons!

Did you wear a veil and/or any other bridal accessories?

I wore a 2-tier cathedral length soft tulle veil, with lace and diamante trim. I even wore the veil over my face as I really wanted to lean into the classic look that my wedding dress gave me. But also, the veil needed its own moment as it was so beautiful, just the perfect addition!

Tell us a little about your wedding day – the vibe, what inspired you, etc.

I always wanted white flowers with lots of greenery, again to look back on in 10 years and have no regret over trends and something that would stand the test of time. I also went traditional and had silver beaded charger plates and high centre pieces, to try and elevate the tables as guests spend a good amount of time at the wedding breakfast and also so its sociable! We wanted classic but a modern twist, which I feel we achieved by adding white chiffon draping around the venue, a simple but very impactful touch and looks amazing in the photos.

What was your favourite moment from the day itself?

Gosh, I really struggle to pick one, so here’s a few (sorry!)

The ceremony, as soon as we faced each other and said our vows, it truly felt like it was just us two in the room. We did not stop looking at each other, we couldn’t stop smiling it was just pure magic. A moment that will stay with me forever! 2- we had singing waiters over our desert course and to see the penny drop on our guest’s faces was hilarious. They were so entertaining and got everyone singing, waving napkins and dancing along with them! It’s when the day started to shift into a party and wow, did we party! 3- the fireworks, it was our last surprise for our guests at around 10pm, we were stood together in front of our guests with Coldplay- A sky full of stars playing in the background and that really cemented for me what a fantastic day we had. Hearing our guests’ reactions behind us to the fireworks, as well as just singing and dancing with my now husband, just in awe that we had done it. We were finally married!

Is there any advice you would be happy to share with other brides?

Don’t worry about the day, I was so relaxed and chilled about it because I had full faith in our suppliers. Everyone knew the timeline of the day and that was enough for me to relinquish control and be totally present on the day. It’s true what everyone says, it goes so fast, so just be present and don’t even think about it. Be with your husband and loved ones, you won’t get the day again!

Are you taking a honeymoon and if so when (in relation to your wedding, ie, immediately after, or sometime later) and what are your plans?

We will be taking a honeymoon, it will be next year but currently undecided, we are almost too open to options/ideas that we just can’t decide. But I’m looking forward to longing it out and being able to reflect on the day again!

Would you mind sharing details of any other suppliers you used? Ideally by their Instagram handle but if not, just a business name will do!
