Amy’s Perfect Wedding
How did your partner propose?
He knew I would want it away from a crowd so we had gone to get our Christmas tree from a Christmas tree farm. As we were walking around finding our tree, he got down on one knee amongst the trees and popped the question!
What’s the best piece of advice you received in the run up to your wedding?
Its easier said than done but don’t stress over the small stuff! I was running through scenarios in my head for weeks, but on the day, it all went so smoothly and no one else knows if something doesn’t quite go to plan! I was also very organised in my planning early on, which made it far less stressful nearer the time. Try to enjoy the process – I am already missing doing the planning!
How did you go about finding your wedding dress?
We knew we wanted to get married somewhere in the countryside and have the place exclusively to ourselves. As soon as we saw The Oak Barn, we knew it had to be our venue. It was beautiful! I think we actually came across it looking on Hitched.
How many dresses did you try on before you found ‘the one’?
I probably tried on around about 15 dresses. Fross was my 5th shop I went to as I knew they stocked a dress that I liked. I had an idea in my head of what I wanted, but nothing ticked all the boxes until I found my dress at Fross!
Do you know the name of your dress designer?
Nicole Milano
What made you fall in love with the dress that you chose?
I really wanted long sleeves on my dress, and a mixture of lace and plain crepe. I loved the detail of the lace on my dress, along with the elegance of the plain crepe. Also the train on the dress was beautiful, and the lace detailing on the back was amazing! It felt so perfect when tried it on, I knew it was the one!
Did you wear a veil and/or any other bridal accessories?
I didn’t wear a veil, but instead my florist made me real flower pins for my hair which my hair dresser put in once my hair was styled
Tell us a little about your wedding day – the vibe, what inspired you, etc.
We wanted to go for a rustic, relaxed style to the day, with autumnal colours and flowers. We had hoped for a lovely autumn day, however we did get a bit of rain (meant to be lucky hey!) However, the rain cleared and the sun came out in the evening and we managed to get some beautiful photos, thanks tour amazing photographer. My husband and I both ordered some wellington boots so we could still walk around the field in the rain for our photos!
What was your favourite moment from the day itself?
Its hard to pick one moment. But I loved the moment I walked down the isle and saw all my family and friends in one room, celebrating me and my husband. That was special. It really was the best day of our lives so far!
Is there any advice you would be happy to share with other brides?
Everyone told me how quickly the day goes by, and it really is true! It all seems a bit of a blur, so do make sure you take a moment to just take it all in and look at all your friends and family around you having fun and celebrating! We also made sure we walked around to speak to all our guests over dinner, which was a great way of making sure you speak to everyone.
Are you taking a honeymoon and if so when (in relation to your wedding, ie, immediately after, or sometime later) and what are your plans?
We went on a minimoon to The Tawny Hotel in the Peak District and the to The Fish Hotel in the Cotswolds. Both were beautiful! We are going on our honeymoon in January – traveling around Thailand for 2 weeks. We cant wait!
