Charley’s Perfect Wedding Day
How did your partner propose?
We went away for the weekend to have time together just us two before were due to have our first child. We had a lodge at a Cat Sanctuary which was amazing, my partner proposed to me within an hour of arrival – it was so nice to celebrate our engagement together just us two.
What’s the best piece of advice you received in the run up to your wedding?
Don’t stress over what you cannot control.
How did you go about finding your wedding dress?
I had a rough idea of what I wanted but I tried everything to be sure, and I just went for what I felt most comfortable in.
How many dresses did you try on before you found ‘the one’?
About 14!! I think I tried every style just in case – luckily I only loved one.
Do you know the name of your dress designer?
Justin Alexander.
What made you fall in love with the dress that you chose?
Originally, I thought I would like something very plain but it just did nothing for me. I fell in love with the detail of the dress, I had bling, lace and beading and it just felt right. I loved the sound it made as I walked across the floor, you can hear the beading which was so lively to hear.
Did you wear a veil and/or any other bridal accessories?
I wore a short veil under my bun.
Tell us a little about your wedding day – the vibe, what inspired you, etc.
It was all very relaxed which is what I wanted, I didn’t make it stressful for myself. We had the ceremony and reception on my parent in law’s land which immediately took the stress off of paying for a venue and securing a date. We hired a marquee, had the ceremony outside, fizz, canapes, food, pizza van, cocktail bar and ice cream van. It was everything I dreamed of and more.
What was your favorite moment from the day itself?
Meeting my partner at the end of the aisle. The nerves and stress immediately went away and it felt like it was just us two standing there.
Is there any advice you would be happy to share with other brides?
Enjoy it – take a moment just you and your groom alone to watch your wedding party and just think these people are here for you.
Are you taking a honeymoon and if so when (in relation to your wedding, ie, immediately after, or sometime later) and what are your plans?
No plans yet – with 2 kids it makes it tricky. Maybe one day next year we will go away but for now we are looking to have a night away at a spa hotel.
