What’s the best piece of advice you received in the run up to your wedding?
Spreadsheets are your friend!
How did you go about finding your wedding dress?
I always looked at bridal shop displays and new I wanted a fitted dress. Then googled lots and tried lots on!
How many dresses did you try on before you found ‘the one’?
probably about 9!
What made you fall in love with the dress that you chose?
I loved the lace and the detailing that came up over my shoulders as well as the fit I wanted and the colour!
Did you wear a veil and/or any other bridal accessories?
I had a hair piece and a belt.
Tell us a little about your wedding day – the vibe, what inspired you, etc.
I wanted a chilled day with no speeches and quite informal. We originally looked at hiring a marquee until we found Milwards which had one up all year round and meant we didn’t have to worry about hiring toilets! I did change my vibe a few times due to covid postponement. Originally it was to be rustic with hessian but I then wanted colour and went with pastels in the end! We had a BBQ so no sit down formal dining and a sit where you want policy which took the headache out of seating arrangements.
What was your favourite moment from the day itself?
The actual ceremony, it was good fun.
Is there any advice you would be happy to share with other brides?
Confirm confirm and confirm arrangements with suppliers so you know exactly what you are getting. For example our venue supplied the DJ but he caught covid 2 weeks before and they substituted him without telling me and he was awful. If I had known I could have had a chance to rearrange something myself. I also wanted outdoor games such as Giant Jenga and connect 4 but the games my supplier supplied were really small and more for children than adults.
Are you taking a honeymoon and if so when (in relation to your wedding, ie, immediately after, or sometime later) and what are your plans?
We had a couple of nights away 2 days after as we have kids and it’s difficult to go away away.
