Kirstie’s Perfect Wedding Day
How did your partner propose?
On our friends boat at sunset in the South of France. As the sun was going down we were having drinks and as I turned around to say lets get a photo together he was facing me on one knee with the sun going down in the background. It was very special.
What’s the best piece of advice you received in the run up to your wedding?
Enjoy every single minute of it, take sometime on the day for you and your husband to take it all in. Because even though it is the most magical day it goes by in a flash!!
How did you go about finding your wedding dress?
I was recommended to go to Fross from a close family member. I live locally so it was a great place to start. It turns out that Fross was the only place that I shopped at and subsequently I found my dress first time.
I would say that I picked out probably 10 dresses to try on. The dress that I picked was probably half way through those. And its so true so many people had told me all the dresses that you see on Instagram etc and think you like wont necessarily be the dress that you pick and that was so true for me. Now looking back the dress that I picked it was so me.
Do you know the name of your dress designer?
Justin Alexander
What made you fall in love with the dress that you chose?
Goodness everything, I just knew when I tried it on that it was so me. It helped I guess as well that myself, my mum & my now mother in law all cried. I had always wanted a classic style, something classic/elegant looking with some detail on it. The fitted shape, and the off the shoulder top half just suited me so well. Plus I had always loved to have buttons running down the back of the dress. It just ticked all the boxes for me. I knew that I had made the right decision when a lot of my close friends and family were like its sooo you Kirstie.
Did you wear a veil and/or any other bridal accessories?
Yes I had a tiered veil from Fross. A diamote hair clip, a hankie that belonged to my late nanna. Earings but no other jewellery.
Tell us a little about your wedding day – the vibe, what inspired you, etc.
I had my bridesmaids all get ready at my parents house. Hair and make up central. We then got collected by three classic/vintage cars. X2 Bentleys & a Rolls Royce which took us to the ceremony at t Swithun’s Church in East Grinstead. We then proceeded on to The Ravenswood in Sharpthrone where we had our reception. I guess we always wanted to have quite a traditional wedding. Getting married in the church, all the groomsmen etc were all in traditional tails. We went for a theme for our wedding tables, ie places we been together as a couple holiday destinations. Which worked really well. We wanted to have a big wedding so during Covid last year we decided to move the date to enable us to have everyone attending. So on the day we had just under 110 people in attendance. The main thing for us was that everyone had a great day and a good party. It’s safe to say that the dance floor was never empty all night…..
What was your favourite moment from the day itself?
Wow hard to pick just one. The church was a very special moment for me. My parents got married there, plus my dads mum had her funeral there. So lost of sentimental memories/moments close to my family. However we both loved the party, having so many of our guests on the dance floor dancing all night to the band was very special. The speeches also were excellent the boys all did a great job with lots of laughs along the way.
Is there any advice you would be happy to share with other brides?
Don’t worry if something you think has gone wrong, cause honestly no one else will know. Enjoy every minute of it, the day comes and goes so quickly so just love every moment of it. As I said previously even if it’s a couple of moments, take yourself away with your husband/wife etc and just take it all in. BECAUSE the adrenaline is running all day its good to just take 5. Get some spare shoes for the party, my feet were killing by the time the reception started. Be aware your cheek will hurt by the end of the day from all the smiling.
Are you taking a honeymoon and if so when (in relation to your wedding, ie, immediately after, or sometime later) and what are your plans?
We are going on a mini moon in August back to the South of France where we got engaged as we had the flights from Covid so thought why not. Then we will be planning our honey moon for next year. We would like to go somewhere where we haven’t been before and at moment we are thinking maybe the Maldives. As have heard that its just amazing.
Would you mind sharing details of any other suppliers you used? Ideally by their Instagram handle but if not, just a business name will do!
