Kirsty’s Perfect Wedding Day

How did your partner propose?

October 2020 During Covid, he took me on a surprise visit to Port Lympne. I was pregnant with our daughter at the time also. When we got there I found out he had booked a stay at tiger lodge (my fave animal). We got to feed the tigers, have a golf buggy for the day and our lodge had a wood fired bath tub outside which looked into the tigers enclosure. After dinner he had secretly prepared the bath and put rose petals, candles and pictures of us leading up to it. It was beautiful, and if anyone knows me – it was the perfect way to propose!

What’s the best piece of advice you received in the run up to your wedding?

Take some time out just you two during the day to connect and observe everything happening around you as it goes by so quickly!

How did you go about finding your wedding dress?

I only knew of one bridal shop – Fross! As I had driven past it many times in one of my previous jobs.

How many dresses did you try on before you found ‘the one’?

About 15??? It was the first one I tried on!

Do you know the name of your dress designer?

No.

What made you fall in love with the dress that you chose?

It was different, it was figure hugging but also had the train that made it flowy as well! It wasn’t white, but so pretty. Plus everyone else’s reactions said it all.

Did you wear a veil and/or any other bridal accessories?

No, didn’t need too. The dress was enough.

Tell us a little about your wedding day – the vibe, what inspired you, etc.

We got married at Brookfield barn in Horsham. Beautiful venue that we hadn’t been to and none of our other friends and family had been to either. It has a golf course on sight so Charlie was sold straight away! We had planned for an outdoor ceremony but unfortunately the weather wasn’t playing ball. Our little girl 22 months old walked down the aisle as our flower girl on her own!!! During the inside ceremony as we were saying our vows, the sun shone through the bifolding doors and everyone said it was magical. Then we were able to have our confetti and pics outside, it was perfect. Our theme was vey rustic, minimalistic. The bridesmaids and groomsman AND groom wore sage green. Our main meal was a paella with tapas and sangria! Our cake was our dessert!

What was your favourite moment from the day itself?

All of it!

Is there any advice you would be happy to share with other brides?

On the day let the venue and staff work there magic, they’ve done it so many times… just relax and take it all in.

Are you taking a honeymoon and if so when (in relation to your wedding, ie, immediately after, or sometime later) and what are your plans?

Yes – we went on a ‘family-moon’ to Seville and Barcelona with our little girl. Then we go on our actual honeymoon to Barbados in January alone. We couldn’t go after the wedding as it would be there hurricane season and didn’t want to risk it.

Would you mind sharing details of any other suppliers you used? Ideally by their Instagram handle but if not, just a business name will do!
