Michaela’s Perfect Wedding In Stella York

How did your partner propose?

On Christmas day 2017. I was cooking for 11 family members, just as I was about to take out the meat to carve my partner called me into our lounge, handed me the last box that was on the Christmas tree, and wrapped 5 boxes altogether in one another. I eventually got to the ring box, opened it and it was empty. I turned around to see my now fiancé down on one knee. Safe to say the meat was very overdone but so worth it.

What’s the best piece of advice you received in the run-up to your wedding?

Remember it is your day with your new husband, it should be a day you want not what others want you to have.

How did you go about finding your wedding dress?

I spoke to other friends who have been married in the past couple of years. Finding out where they got their dresses from and the experiences they had. I then started to look at different wedding dress shops, reading reviews online and also speaking to friends who had brought their dresses from those shops. I then booked appointments. I had 4 different wedding shops booked and had tried on around 30 dresses before I found ‘the one’.

How many dresses did you try on before you found ‘the one?

About 30. Although I tried ‘the one’ as my first dress when I visited Fross and didn’t feel it then until I tired on more and couldn’t stop thinking about that dress. I tried it on for the second time and BOOM it hit me, that was the dress I was going to wear.

Do you know the name of your dress designer?

Stella York.

What made you fall in love with the dress that you chose?

The fit, the comfort, the beautiful lace design. Everything about the dress. I also had found a photo of the dress online before visiting any dress shops, back when I first got engaged. I had it saved to my Pinterest board- when Fross first pulled out the dress, I had no idea it was the one that I had saved all those months ago. It wasn’t until I left the shop after saying ‘YES’ that I had a moment of realization that I had brought the first dress I had ever saved on my Pinterest board.

Did you wear a veil and/or any other bridal accessories?

I have brought a veil that I will be wearing on my wedding day and also a belt.

Tell us a little about your wedding day – the vibe, what inspired you, etc.

Our wedding day is going to be inspired by our country. We have a lot of wood decorations for the centerpieces, the flowers are going to be more wildflowers and simple. We are getting married in an old barn that has been converted into a large well-maintained garden. Our color theme is blush pink and blue. Our inspiration has come from the place we are marrying which has a special connection to our relationship and also my love for country.

What was your favorite moment from the day itself?

Walking down the aisle with my dad in hand, laughing together, and seeing the look on toms face when he saw me for the first time. But the whole day itself was absolutely perfect and I loved every second.

Is there any advice you would be happy to share with other brides?

Think about yourself and your husband. Don’t stress because at the end of the day it’s over within a flash. You have to be happy with what you have planned and that is all that counts. Who cares if your best friends boyfriends partner isn’t impressed, is it their day?? NO. It’s yours.

Are you taking a honeymoon and if so when (about your wedding, ie, immediately after, or sometime later) and what are your plans?

We are flying to Croatia next year for our honeymoon- we have had a mini-moon in London since being married. We are going for 10 nights and plan on relaxing, exploring, and making the most out of time to ourselves as a newly married couple without the stress of life.

Would you mind sharing details of any other suppliers you used? Ideally, by their Instagram handle but if not, just a business name will do!
