Nicola’s Brookfield Barn Wedding
Apr 26, 2019
We caught up with Fross bride Nicola to find out all about her Brookfield Barn wedding ceremony in Sussex, wearing a stunning Stella York gown from our collection!
How did your partner propose?
He organised a private candlelit dinner on the beach in St Lucia and got down on one knee when ‘our song’ came on.
What’s the best piece of advice you received in the run up to the big day?
Take it all in and enjoy it! You’ve done all the hard work beforehand so when the day comes just relax and enjoy and also make sure you take a few moments just the two of you.
How did you go about finding the perfect wedding dress?
I looked at magazines and pictures of dresses online beforehand. I had a feeling I knew roughly what I was looking for but until you try them on it’s hard to know. Fross had exactly the sort of dress I thought I wanted on a mannequin in the shop so I was immediately drawn to that one. The dress I chose was by Stella York, apparently it was very ‘on trend’! It was a high neckline, backless lace and crepe wedding gown with silver beaded lace – very sleek and flattering.
How many dresses did you try on before finding The One?
It was the first one I tried on. I thought I knew what I wanted but until you try you are never sure but luckily it worked out for me. I did try on others after but nothing compared to this one.
What made you fall in love with the dress you chose?
What bridal accessories did you choose?
Veil, shoes and Tiara – all from Fross and then drop earrings.
Tell us about your wedding day.
It was the best day of my life. Me, my mum and my bridesmaids all got ready in Brookfields bridal prep room. Our ceremony was at 2pm and my dad walked me down the isle and gave me away to James. We said our vows and exchanged rings. After the ceremony we did our confetti outside and had our welcome drinks and canapés as well as our formal photos. We sat down for speeches which were all fantastic and then had our wedding breakfast supplied by the Secret Restaurant – some of the best food I’ve ever eaten. Me and James then went off for our couple shots around the grounds of the venue and had some time to mingle with our guests. We cut the cake and had our first dance to James Bay at 8pm and then danced all evening not wanting the day to end.
What was your favourite moment from your big day?
I loved the whole day! From getting ready with my mum and bridesmaids in the morning, to dancing with everyone in the evening – it was all amazing. I was surprised how much I enjoyed the ceremony, I’m not a fan of being centre of attention or speaking in front of people but when the time came I was so happy and kind of forgot everyone else was there.
What theme did you pick for the wedding?
We didn’t really have a theme. Our colour scheme was pale blue, grey and white and there were lots of flowers, sparkle and ribbon but no theme.
What advice would you give to other brides-to-be?
Be organised as suppliers get booked up quickly, make lists and cross things off, try and stick to your budget as best you can, don’t be afraid to ask for help from friends and family and when it comes to the day relax and enjoy it!
Where did you go on your honeymoon? Florida and Mexico
