Penny’s Perfect Wedding Day

How did your partner propose?

We went to vegas for James’s 30th birthday, whilst we were there, we had booked a helicopter tour to the Grand Canyon and James popped the question in the canyon!

What’s the best piece of advice you received in the run up to your wedding?

Take time to enjoy YOUR day, it’s such an overwhelming day with so much going it’s really important to grab a few moments of calm to yourself or with your partner to really take in what’s going on

How did you go about finding your wedding dress?

Me and my mum went to a local wedding show and Fross had a stall there, on the leaflet was a picture of the most stunning unusual dress (little did I know then that it would be my dress) and I knew I had to book in to try it!

How many dresses did you try on before you found ‘the one’?

I went to 4 shops in total, Fross was the second shop I went to and even though I had fallen in love with my dress I still wanted to make sure it was right but I could only think about my dress from Fross!

Do you know the name of your dress designer?

Josephine Scott

What made you fall in love with the dress that you chose?

Everyone who has seen my dress has said “it’s so you” even my photographers who only met me once! It’s so unusual and pretty with the flower detail and sparkle, I knew I wanted something traditional yet unique and my dress was definitely that!

Did you wear a veil and/or any other bridal accessories?

Yes I wore a veil and a tiara too (full princess)

Tell us a little about your wedding day – the vibe, what inspired you, etc.

It was very fairytale (so the dress fitted the theme perfectly) we got married in a small village in the Algarve called Alté, we wanted something intimate and I knew when we got engaged I had wanted a destination wedding and one of my clients had recently had a daughter who got married in Portugal so I found the details of the wedding planner and away we went,

What was your favourite moment from the day itself?

Having the special time with all our nearest and dearest, we only had 30 people altogether on the wedding day and it just felt so special having all the time with them and being able to actually talk to all the guest, also my dads speech was very emotional so that I will always remember.

Is there any advice you would be happy to share with other brides?

Make sure you do you, if on the day you just want to drink champagne and dance with your husband, you do it! Don’t worry about having to greet everyone or making sure everyone else is okay, it’s your day, people can come find you if they need to and if not then they will still have the best time eating and drinking!

Are you taking a honeymoon and if so when (in relation to your wedding, ie, immediately after, or sometime later) and what are your plans?

We are planning our honeymoon now, we are hoping to book Canada for a year after the wedding

Would you mind sharing details of any other suppliers you used? Ideally by their Instagram handle but if not, just a business name will do!
