Rachael’s Perfect Wedding Day

How did your partner propose?

Under the Christmas tree in Convent Garden, we had gone for dinner and see to my favourite west end show Wicked and as we were walking back to the hotel through Covent Garden, he pulled towards the Christmas tree and proposed.

What’s the best piece of advice you received in the run up to your wedding?

To plan in half and hour with your husband/wife during the wedding so you can actually have time to speak and soak in all the hard work of the amazing wedding you have planned together.

How did you go about finding your wedding dress?

I looked at a few designers and found Justin Alexander and thought all of his dresses were stunning, so I knew I wanted a Justin dress it was just finding the perfect one.

How many dresses did you try on before you found ‘the one’?

I think I had got to about 10, I had my heart set on a dress which when I tried on didn’t give me ‘the one’ feeling so the lady at Fross picked out on similar also by Justin Alexander and I knew as soon as I put it on.

Do you know the name of your dress designer?

Justin Alexander.

What made you fall in love with the dress that you chose?

I felt like a princess in it, it ticked all of my boxes of what I wanted in a wedding dress. I felt it was a real show stopper and not something people would expect me to be wearing.

Did you wear a veil and/or any other bridal accessories?

I wore a veil the same length as my dress and a tiara which really finished off the whole look.

Tell us a little about your wedding day – the vibe, what inspired you, etc.

Our wedding was loosely festival inspired, our venue was so versatile with some of the wedding outdoor in a field then a traditional barn wedding for the wedding breakfast with a marquee for another area to have drinks and a photo booth area. We had a lot of guests so needed a big space for everyone and also had unlimited space for everyone to camp over and spend the whole weekend with us.

What was your favourite moment from the day itself?

To pick just one moment would be so difficult, I felt like I was on a cloud the whole day! I loved every second of our wedding day, but walking down the aisle in my dream dress about to marry my best friend was one of my highlights.

Is there any advice you would be happy to share with other brides?

To remember its yours and your partners day, do whatever you want and don’t be swayed by other people’s opinions. Also don’t sweat the small stuff, only you and your partner know all the small details and if something does not go as planned your guests probably won’t even realise.

Are you taking a honeymoon and if so when (in relation to your wedding, ie, immediately after, or sometime later) and what are your plans?

We went to Italy for 3 weeks straight after the wedding, we traveling from Lake Garda, to Venice, to Florence, to Rome, and finished in Sardinia. It was incredible! The food, the wine, the ice cream!!

Would you mind sharing details of any other suppliers you used? Ideally by their Instagram handle but if not, just a business name will do!
