Sophie Gladman’s Winter Wedding

How did your partner propose?

On the day we moved into our new home. He got the keys early from the estate agents and put balloons and a massive sign saying “Will you marry me?” champagne and all our songs in the living room. So when we later went and got the keys from the estate agents I was none the wiser and then when we walked into the house and living room he got down on one knee. So surprised!

What’s the best piece of advice you received in the run up to your wedding?

Be selfish and put us first, don’t try and please other people. Best bit of advise as we had the most perfect day and spent a lot of time together and the planning wasn’t stressful at all!

How did you go about finding your wedding dress?

Went to two different shops, second being Fross and tried on about 5 and found the one!

How many dresses did you try on before you found ‘the one’?

Around 8 or 9.

Do you know the name of your dress designer?

Eddy K

What made you fall in love with the dress that you chose?

The fit and the fact it was slightly different to what I would normally go for with a bit of sparkle.

Did you wear a veil and/or any other bridal accessories?

Yes, veil and hair price.

Tell us a little about your wedding day – the vibe, what inspired you, etc.

We wanted a winter wedding near Xmas and all green and white. Was very personal to us and everything we love. Had it at Pelham house in Lewes, where my husband grew up. Lots of good food, drinks and music. Had a magician during the meal who was amazing and impressed all the guests and then loads of dancing and had an American bbq in the evening.

What was your favourite moment from the day itself?

Walking into the ceremony room and seeing my husband to be and listening to his amazing vows!

Is there any advice you would be happy to share with other brides?

Don’t get stressed, write lots of lists, tick things off as you go, enjoy the process because it’s really fun and most importantly be selfish as it’s your day.

Are you taking a honeymoon and if so when (in relation to your wedding, ie, immediately after, or sometime later) and what are your plans?

Planning the Maldives at the moment for March. We got married in December.

Would you mind sharing details of any other suppliers you used? Ideally by their Instagram handle but if not, just a business name will do!
