Sophie’s Perfect Wedding Day

How did your partner propose?
A spot on the Ashdown Forest, where we’d been for one of our first walks together.
- What’s the best piece of advice you received in the run up to your wedding?
To schedule time into the day, for just yourselves. It goes so fast, and you get separated a lot!
- How did you go about finding your wedding dress?
Fross was the first (and last) shop I visited, just with my mum. It was effortless and not at all stressful!
- How many dresses did you try on before you found ‘the one’?
I think it was 4, and my dress was not one of the ones I picked to try to start with! The lovely Ava suggested it, after getting an idea of what I did and didn’t like!
- Do you know the name of your dress designer?
It was the Alaska gown, by Modeca.
- What made you fall in love with the dress that you chose?
It was so lightweight and comfortable, and being a strapless A-line gown, with a chiffon skirt, it was not at all like many others! It has a translucent corset style top at the front, which I loved.
- Did you wear a veil and/or any other bridal accessories?
I wore a Richards Design Chapel length veil, however it was a very windy day and it didn’t make it all the way down the aisle!
- Tell us a little about your wedding day – the vibe, what inspired you, etc.
Our wedding day was in an 18th century converted barn, we had a bbq and it was all very relaxed, which was the vibe we were going for.
- What was your favourite moment from the day itself?
Honestly everything, but walking down the aisle and seeing my now husband will be something I always remember.
- Is there any advice you would be happy to share with other brides?
Just enjoy it, it really does go so fast and for me, it didn’t feel real! Don’t stress the small stuff – no one will notice!
- Are you taking a honeymoon and if so when (in relation to your wedding, ie, immediately after, or sometime later) and what are your plans?
We have been on a mini honeymoon to the Lake District with our dog, and are hoping to head to Africa in autumn.
Would you mind sharing details of any other suppliers you used? Ideally by their Instagram handle but if not, just a business name will do!
